Budget modes
beanies.family offers two budget modes:
- Fixed amount — Set a specific monthly spending limit (e.g. $3,000)
- Percentage of income — Set a savings target as a percentage, and the spending budget is calculated from your actual income (e.g. save 20% = spend 80%)
Category limits
Within your budget, you can set limits for individual spending categories (e.g. $500 for Food, $200 for Entertainment). Category cards show a progress bar and status:
- OK — Under 75% of the limit
- Warning — Between 75% and 100%
- Over — Exceeded the limit
Pace status
The budget summary card shows your pace status — how your spending compares to where you should be at this point in the month:
- Great — Well under pace
- On Track — Spending is roughly on pace
- Caution — Slightly ahead of pace
- Over Budget — Already exceeded your monthly budget
